Thank You Sheikh Jaffer Ladak - Reflecting on a Blessed Spring Residency at MY Foundation

As the Spring 2026 Resident Alim Programme comes to a close, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Sheikh Jaffer Ladak for his time, dedication and service to our community over the past several months.

When we first announced the programme, our vision was simple: to provide our community with consistent access to an English-speaking scholar who could educate, inspire, guide and support people of all ages through regular engagement and meaningful connection.

Alhamdulillah, that vision became a reality.

Over the course of his residency, Sheikh Jaffer delivered an extensive programme of activities that touched every corner of community life. From the weekly Tafsīr series exploring Sūrah al-Nāziʿāt, to Thursday night reflections, Friday sermons, commemorative programmes, youth initiatives, educational workshops, consultations and community gatherings, his presence became an integral part of MY Foundation.

Hundreds of people attended programmes throughout the residency. Many benefited from the opportunity to ask questions, seek guidance, deepen their understanding of Islam and engage with contemporary issues through an Islamic lens.

The residency included:

  • Weekly Tafsīr sessions and Qur’anic study circles

  • Thursday evening programmes and reflections

  • Friday congregational programmes and sermons

  • Wilādah and Shahādah commemorations throughout the Islamic calendar

  • Dedicated youth engagement and mentoring opportunities

  • Book discussions and educational sessions

  • Personal consultations and one-to-one meetings

  • Community question-and-answer sessions

  • Workshops addressing practical challenges facing Muslims today

  • Support for families, young people and community members seeking religious guidance

Perhaps most importantly, the programme provided something that is difficult to measure: accessibility.

Having a scholar consistently present within the community allowed relationships to develop, questions to be asked, concerns to be discussed and meaningful connections to be formed over an extended period of time.

We have been deeply encouraged by the feedback received from community members who have shared how the programme strengthened their faith, increased their knowledge and helped them navigate personal and spiritual challenges.

On behalf of the Trustees, volunteers and wider MY Foundation community, we thank Sheikh Jaffer Ladak for his sincerity, commitment and service. We pray that Allah (swt) rewards him abundantly, grants him continued success in serving the Ahlul Bayt (a), and allows the impact of this work to continue benefiting our community for years to come.
